Thrilling Oskaloosa Basketball Games

Girls Varsity Basketball hosted Oskaloosa at home on Tuesday. The tip-off was at 6:15 and the stands were already packed, and the student section was very enthusiastic. Everyone in the gym was excited to play Osky and send them home with a loss.


At the beginning of the girl's basketball game, both teams were off to a slow start, but the pace quickly picked up and got more intense. By the end of the 3rd quarter, the score was 17-19, and the warriors were behind. However, in the fourth quarter, they made a comeback to make the score 29-29 going into overtime. In OT, the Warriors fell by 5 points, and Osky took the victory 41-36. This game was a hard fought game by the Lady Warriors and was very exciting to watch. The top 3 scorers were Jocelyn Bice with 12, Olivia Johnson with 8, nad Keara Schmitt with 7. The top 3 rebounders of the game were Olivia Johnson with 9, Jocelyn Bice with 5, and Kennedi Wright with 4. Lastly, the top 3 players with assists against Osky were Jocelyn Bice with 4, Jayden Lammers with 3, and Keara Schmitt also with 3.



The boy's varsity basketball team hosted Oskaloosa at home on Tuesday as well right after the girls game on Tuesday. The tip-off started later than the designated time of 7:45 due to the OT in the girls game, and everyone in the gym was more than ready to watch the Warriors play the number one rated Oskaloosa Indians.


The tall Oskaloosa players had nothing on our warriors and did not intimidate us, as we started off the game very strong. The boys started off the first quarter up 24-9 dominating the Indians, with the student section going crazy. This first quarter set the tone for the rest of the game, and Norwalk was up for the rest of the game. The Warriors came out of the game with a victory 58-46. This was a HUGE win for the warriors against the number one rated team in the state and they made everyone in the gym proud to be a warrior.


The team leader of the game was Sam Rohrer, and he talked about the concept of willingness, being able to get out of your own comfort zone and give extra. This idea of willingness should be recognized and acted upon more. Coach Larson stated that after Friday’s loss against Pella, “They responded like champions” Check out the boy's highlights below!


The top 3 scorers were Bowen Born with 29, Tyler Johnson with 10, and Tyler Endres also with 10. The top 3 rebounders of the game were Tyler Johnson with 8, Bowen Born with 7, and Tyler Endres with 6. Lastly, the top 3 players with assists were Tyler Johnson with 4, Bowen Born with 3, and Carson Raper and Scott Anderson both with 1.
