An Impressive Cross Country Season

Over the past few weeks, the boys and girls cross country teams have continued to have a strong season. As far as rankings go, the girls remain at 6th in the state. The boys have made a big leap from #5 up to #2. Patrick Foster and Derek Webster still remain individually ranked. With the season winding down, and only two regular-season meets left, each team continues to put in hard work at practice.
Last week, the teams ran in Knoxville, one of the hilliest courses during the season! Despite the hills, both teams received 1st place.
On Monday, October 7, Norwalk was supposed to host its home meet, as well as senior night. However, due to the excessive amount of rain we’ve received over the past week, the teams are unable to run at McAninch. Last year, it was very rainy, but the meet wasn’t postponed or canceled, and the entire course was absolutely destroyed by all of the runners. The directors at Parks & Rec didn’t want the same thing to happen again this year, so the meet has been canceled. To make up for this, senior night will be held at the football game on Friday, October 18. Both teams are also heading to Atlantic on Thursday, October 10 for a replacement meet before conference. The conference meet will be held in Norwalk, on October 14th, assuming we don’t continue to get so much rain.
