As the 2019 cross country season has started, both the boys and girls cross country teams have already given us a glimpse of where they’re headed.
The girls team is coming back from a strong season last year, where they placed 14th at the State Cross Country Meet. However, the team’s atmosphere is more competitive than ever. With new underclassmen making their debut on the varsity roster, the team has depth into the JV roster. Before the season had started, the team was ranked #14 in the state, but as the season has progressed, they’ve moved up to #6 in the state. At the previous four meets, not only have individual runners placed, but the team as a whole has been successful, as well.
On the boy’s side, they have also shown depth and strength throughout the first four meets. The team has three individuals ranked in the state: Patrick Foster (15th), Derek Webster (18th), and Jack Brown (30th). The team is also ranked 5th in the state.
Coach Wiedmann and Coach Larson are very impressed with the way things are this year, and can’t wait to see where the season takes them. With both teams’ eyes set on the state meet, they continue to dedicate themselves during practices and meets. Their next meet is September 23, in ADM, followed by another on September 25, in Roland-Story.
