The Golden Globes

On January 6th, 2019 the Golden Globes took place at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA. There were many good nominees and winners ranging from Best Motion Picture - Drama, Musical, and Comedy, to even the Best Television series. Let’s take a look at some of the nominees and winners, they might be your favorite!

BEST MOTION PICTURE - DRAMA

There were a lot of good nominees for the Best Drama Motion Picture. These nominees consist of: Black Panther, Bohemian Rhapsody, BlacKkKlansman, If Beale Street Could Talk, and the heartbreaking film, A Star is Born. Black Panther was directed by Ryan Coogler and is the world’s ninth-highest-grossing film of all time. Bohemian Rhapsody was directed by Bryan Singer and hit the box office with $714.8 million. BlacKkKlandsman was directed by Spike Lee, and hit the box office with $89.1 million. If Beale Street Could Talk was directed by Barry Jenkins and was released on Christmas of 2018. Finally, A Star is Born, was directed by Bradley Cooper with music composed by Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper, and Lukas Nelson. Winning this award was Bohemian Rhapsody, with Rami Malek winning best performance by an actor in a motion picture - drama!

BEST MOTION PICTURE - ANIMATED

The animation category had a lot of great nominees for the best motion picture, but sadly, only one could win. The nominees for Best Motion Picture - Animated were: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Mirai, and, Ralph Breaks the Internet. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was directed by Peter Ramsey, Robert Persichetti Jr., Rodney Rothman, and it hit the box office with $233.3 million. Incredibles 2 was directed by Brad Bird and is the second-highest-grossing animated film of all time. Isle of Dogs was directed by Wes Anderson and narrated by Courtney B. Vance. Mirai was directed by Mamoru Hosoda and is the 10th-highest-grossing Japanese film of 2018. And, Ralph Breaks the Internet was directed by Phil Johnston, Rich Moore, and hit the box office with $354.3 million. Along with all these great nominees, the winter for this award went to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse with the cast of Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Lily Tomlin, Nicolas Cage, Liev Schreiber, Oscar Isaac.
