Captain Marvel

On March 8th, 2019, a new fantasy/science fiction movie was released. "Captain Marvel," written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, is the 6th biggest worldwide film opening since 2002, bringing in $456,718,598. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the twenty-first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brie Larson stars as Carol Danvers, along-with Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law as the rest of the cast.


With the movie set in 1995, the story follows Danvers as she becomes Captain Marvel after Earth is caught in the center of a conflict between two alien worlds.In May of 2013, this movie was beginning to develop, and became official in October of 2014. Captain Marvel is Marvel Studios' first female-led superhero film. The story uses a few elements from Roy Thomas's 1971 "Kree–Skrull War" comic book storyline. Larson was announced as Danvers at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con. Location shooting began in January 2018, with principal photography beginning that March in California before concluding in July 2018 in Louisiana. Jackson and Greg were digitally de-aged in post-production to reflect the film's 1990s setting.


Captain Marvel had its world premiere in London on February 27, 2019, and was theatrically released in the United States on March 8, 2019, in IMAX and 3D. The film has grossed over $779 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2019. The iMDb has reviewed Captain Marvel as a 7.1/10, which nearly matches up with Rotten Tomatoes review as 79%.
