seniors.
one day, you’ll have your last first day of school.
you’ll go school shopping for the last time.
you’ll pick out the final perfect first day outfit.
you’ll take the last “first day of school picture.”
seniors.
one day, you’ll walk onto that field, court, mat, one last time.
you will look at your coach, your team, your crowd.
you’ll scan the crowd to look for your parents as you play that last game, wrestle that last match.
seniors,
one day, you’ll walk into that school for the last time as a student.
you’ll pull that door into the school, even though it says push.
you’ll go to your locker, and gather all your belongings.
you’ll say goodbye to your teachers, and perhaps some of your friends.
you’ll take your “last, last day of school picture.”
seniors,
one day, you’ll realize it’s actually over.
whether it’s that last day of school,
or when you’re walking across the stage.
you’re gonna see that 12 years of “nothing” turned out to be one of your greatest accomplishments.
so slow down.
take it all in while you can.
one moment you’re laughing in class,
the next moment, you’re packing up your room to move into a dorm.
quit taking everything for granted.
thank the lunch ladies,
ask your teacher for help,
sit with the new kid.
seniors,
this is your last year.
take your time.
